All of these comments rely on a ‘human centric ’ interpretation of what life is, what a power source is, what time is and so on.

Given the probable infinite nature of space, why would ‘alien life’ be bound by the same scientific or physical restraints that we are?

I certainly agree with that, the problem is there is nothing left but conjecture. I think the entire discipline of astrobiology is a misconception. We should spend much more time considering the origin of life on earth before we try to guess its existence light years away.
