Used to really like the combo as it came with my Karakoram. I tried the Velociraptor f&r combo too, a close second but at least they're available again.

+1 for the WTB front and rear combo on my Karakoram..............
Stuck a new set on it the other week.
If only the Zaskar wasn't in front of it, I'd even get to ride the Karakoram a bit more

As Piers has said, both Smoke and Dart are still part of the Panaracer range, available in both kevlar and wire bead:

And yes, they are still one of the best XC tire combos available, if a little heavy.

were they that wide BITD, i would have thought 1.90 mabey. i suppse rims are wider now.

I think I prefer the smoke front and rear, the dart cuts thru mud well but over slippy roots they don't do it for me (lots of them there roots where I ride).

yeah, I hated the dart, but the smoke... ah the smoke, used to run regular size up front and the 1.95 on the rear, loved them... I know they still make them, but I wish they were a bit more available...

IIRC they did a 2.1, and a 1.9. They also did the Dart in a 2.2, still got one in the garage.

They were so big, for that era, that if you didn't put enough pressure in it, the tube would roll round and snap the valve off!! :shock:

i just threw out a smoke, it was farr past its best though. ive got an absoloutely immaculate 'magic' 2.2 and another spare dart somewhere... great tyres but a bit on the heavy side as previously mentioned.
