I lived in a house where it was a hassle to get the bike into the basement, steep narrow steps with three sharp corners, so I put the bike in the living room and locked it to the radiator.

My roommates didn't like that one bit but I said to them, "You have tv's, couches, and the like all over the living room. I'm not asking you to get ride of the tv (but I would have preferred it). All I ask for 12 square feet and the rest you can do what you want with." I got my space.

Thanks for all your replies. I spent most of Sunday putting up shelves and the girls are now both very happy

I've been allowed to hang one bike in the living room and the hall/dining room should have space for 2 more.

I think my girlfriend is starting to appreciate beautiful retro rides now. (bikes!) She even commented on the 1996 s-works that one of you guys is thinking of splitting saying it would be a terrible thing to do! Not sure if she'll let me rescue it though!

We're both trying to come up with a plan to ge out of London. We're both sick of our jobs and I'm really sick of having to shout at stupid drivers every time I take to two wheels! For the price of renting a tiny London flat we could probably get a place elsewhere with enough space and possibly money left over for a place with enough space for twenty bikes!

Anyway I'm going to check the for sale and eBay watch now!!!!

I'm in the same 'boat' as you - flat, London, traffic, space. If i move out then i would have to get the train in. But i could cycle off road at the weekends with no trouble. What too do :?

Bike lifts or wall racks... if you have high ceilings bike lift is definitely the way to go.

It took my wife a while to get used to having a bike in the house, but if you start with it in the bedroom moving it to the hall way looks like a big concession on you part
