Slingshot

Morning all,

I know a couple of people on here have had slingshots in the past. I just wanted to know what they were like off road? I really like the idea of one, but cant help thinking they wouldnt take much off road abuse.

All comments welcome and thank you in advance as always

Feels like a rigid bike really, but with a bit more give. Excels on fast choppy terrain where it smooths out the edges and lets you keep on pedalling where on a true rigid you might find your pedalling rhythm difficult to keep up. Just set mine up with a disc drive and am going to take it for a spin this weekend to see how I like it with that on. Have never noticed any lack of torsional stiffness by the way, which was my initial reservation based entirely on how it looks. All in its a great bike and offers something different to having 'another rigid bike' in the garage.

Thank you. Thats excellent to hear. I was just concerned that it wouldnt stand up to off road use, but sounds like it will be fine.

CHeers again

They stood up to bmx so mtbing should be a piece of piss!

They hold up to abuse just fine.
stevet1 said it perfect with regards to how they behave on the dirt.

I've raced and ridden my 92 quite a bit and its always done fantastic. Plus people go nuts when they see one.

I had mine set up with a T-Disk as well....lots of flex goin' on.
I've found they shine best as a full rigid bike. Lets the bike do what it does best.

You've got speed limits on your trails?!

Sadly, yes we do. Multi use trails and mountain biker access to them is a very hot topic here in Northern California unfortunately.

Rangers are often out and using speed guns to keep riders in check.

I remember reading about that in MBA about 20 years ago.

I thought it was a flash in the pan thing - didn't realise it was still being done...
