well in the end i went for some slime sealant, i put the 2 new spare tubes in and filled them with sealant, but as a back up i got some slime skab glueless patches, hopefully this will end my run of crappy punctures.
If the thorns don't get you the flint has a good go  . Apart from that the Wolds is a nice place to ride. Slime just never cut it around there, perhaps I was unlucky and there were too many thorns for it to cope with?? I sorta doubt it but I am trying it again in one of my other bikes, fingers crossed. Wheel milk in UST or a tubeless conversion (I used Joe's) has never (touch wood) let me down when it comes to thorns.
There's nothing worse than getting a puncture on a cold and wet Winters day, the rain and hail lashing down on you as you try and repair or replace the tube with fingers so cold and numb that they resemble a bunch of carrots.
Asda have 'self healing' tubes for 3 green queens a pop
