Slightly sombre - Song for a funeral.

I've been tasked with finding an 'upbeat' version of 'You are my sunshine' for my Nans funeral (92, great life!).

I'm struggling to find anything available on CD that's not too bleak or sombre - any suggestions?


My favourite version is by the Dead South, and was not appreciated by other family members!

Can you not find a version on iTunes & burn it on to a Cd? *As I write this I realize I'm probably the only person with a laptop that still has a Cd writer*

Hello, sorry to hear that.
Obviously an acquired taste in terms of the bluegrass type delivery, but there is a version on Oh Brother Where Art Thou which is not too bleak - IMO
Should also be plenty of cd’s about?

I'm a big fan of mix-tapes.. i'm also a big fan of not paying for things which you can get for free on the internet

I combine these two hobbies using 4kvideodownloader it's freeware whick coverts youtube video to audiofile

Simply download the 'video downloader' (the green one) it's free and legal, find the song/version you want on youtube, copy/paste the url into the downloader and it will automatically convert it to mp3 and store it in itunes or whatever media player you're using.

For what it's worth, the song has been asked for as my granddad used to sing this to my Nan whilst she was in a less than lucid state. Dementia sucks.

I used to have a conscience about converting from streaming services.. i would try my utmost to only take from the deceased rather than the up and coming but having listened to campaigners like Tom Gray (Broken Record) i feel it's our moral duty not to stream.. the artists don't get a damn thing.
