Size 20"-21" 90s MTB Wanted

Foh

Retro Newbie
I'm wanting to buy my first retro MTB and have a go at some restoration.

Preferably under £100 and preferably steel.

Any go to bikes to look out for?

Thanks

Re:

Hi, welcome to the forum.
Good choice starting off with a budget bike to tinker with and restore. I’ve done a fair few lower end bikes and they’re fun to do and the old steel frames do last and ride well.
Best advice is to keep an eye on gumtree, eBay and Facebook marketplace (if you’re on FB) - check nearest to your location - it’s not really worth travelling miles and miles as good stuff often pops up if you’re quick to respond.
Avoid cheapo Halfords tat, you’ll want lower end stuff from Diamond back, British eagle, muddy fox, look for raleigh’s with Reynolds tubing, you might even find Marins in that price range..
90’s bikes are getting more desirable by the day, so if you see something, jump on it!
Have fun and if you need advice - post on here, there’s some very clued up bods lurking on this site and they’re a friendly bunch.
I’ve included a couple of pics of recent low budget bikes I’ve picked up for pretty much beer money - they’re out there!
Enjoy.
