I'd think it was an early frame (1993), since if the parts are original, it would have had an aheadset and tioga stem not threaded an zoom stem. Along with an Avinier seatpost and seat...
I might have a big problem..... I cant get this screw loose in the stem.... Its stuck... but I havent used all my force on it yet... but sprayed some multispray WD-40 in it and let it be for a while..
Should I use a longer hexkey?
Suggestions? To loosen it.. it must be to pull the hexkey away from me.... but the screw havent released yet....
The screw is loose now! Had to bang on the hexkey with a big wrench..... ok, now I have no problems anymore... Going to change this to a NOS I found on Ebay instead...
I picked this frame locally for a song. Luckily it was just my size. Built it up with spare parts and rode it within a couple days. Love it! Light and stiff, and the Kona front end is a nice complement, giving a little compliance.
The tubing is oversized and straight gauged. The welds are good but not perfect. Made in China, but I'm not holding that against it: it makes for a great rider that I can mess around with.
It doesn't have the cache of the Merlins, Deans, Litespeeds, etc. of the world, but that's cool. Now that I know its a keeper, I can tweak the components as I go and get it just right...
