ps on reflection the amount of petrol it uses just thrusting to 100 is appalling...im not sure there is enough room in the tank for that...its certainly one of the fastest cars ive ever driven...just touching that throttle is ...interesting to say the least....60 feels like 30 in it...so very easy to speed in that car ...

I know what you mean, my Mercs were like that.

Secret is to wind down the windows when in low speed zones.

Not so good for winter.

heres an updated pic of mine...v70 2.5 xlt turbo......200 bhp and a top end of 160 and 0 to 60 in just under 8 seconds...its got puple wipers at the front too..

160 top end? Can't help thinking that's a bit ambitious. Not sure T5s are quite that quick, never mimd the lpts.

They are near enough bar the shouting, remembering unless it has a calibrated speedo it will be a little short on indicated.

Realistically - a stock, unchipped 200bhp 2.5T (lpt) ain't gonna do 160. Maybe the R would - but I think the T5s, T5Rs and Rs from that era had an ECU imposed 155, anyways.

What T5s or the 2.5T (lpt)?

T5s have at least 25bhp more than the 2.5T, Rs 40 - 50 (depending on transmission).

And T5s, in the real world, would probably struggle to get to 160, the lpt engine isn't going to be as quick.

Even Parkers says that not all the T5s get to 155 (and that will likely be an ECU imposed limit), and say the fastest 2.5T does 140. You've only got to look at the numbers, though ~200bhp in a large estate, without tweaking and lightening, ain't going to trouble 160.

I thought it was a T5, don't know why and I did not read closely.

Indeed it would need chipping, etc.

I have been in a T5 knocking the limit, takes a LONG time getting there, but as you say the shape is against it.
