Bought a 29er 7 or 8 years ago , didn't get on with it , too much effort for too little reward I reckon , anyway a mate arrived with " got summat for you " a diamondback Mohito , 29 er , was going to skip it , but thought I'd like it
Re-wind , it's odd , different , but good , but not , heavy , rides light , odd

Like you say 7-8 years have passed and 29ers are now tried and tested and the newer ones have got it nailed! Still like a 26" retro ride...when its dry and not bumpy!


And yes have no idea how this ended up in the -97 section!

My custom built Steel Single speed back at the start of 2004

Rim and tyre choice was non existent, I ran the only tyres I could find, red walled IRC Notos tyres and built a pair of Blue Mavic Open pro's into a single speed wheelset, a 19mm rim with a 2.2 tyre...Never had a problem

Loved that bike, super short rear end, loads of fun, till the back end fell off :facepalm:
