This Sugino tension disk wheel was bought in 1993 or 1994, I already had the mountain bike one and then got into time trials for a while so bought the road one too. I built it onto a Shimano 7 speed hub and Mavic rim (I don't know the exact model) and used it in some local road TTs.
It's a similar design to the Tioga Disk Drive but instead made by Sugino in Japan.
The wheel is in the same condition as when I last used it although it hasn't been ridden since the late 90s. All the fibres are intact, there is some separation of the layers of film as is normal for a wheel of this age. It could be ridden right away. It has been kept in a wheel bag, indoors.
I don't know the exact hub model, it's a normal Shimano hub from the era, probably 105 or Ultegra grade, and I believe it is 7 speed - I don't remember if 8sp was out at the time.
The rim is a Mavic with very little wear to the braking surface.
The spoke nipple parts are adjustable, not seized, although the wheel doesn't need truing.
Great wheel for a show bike, could even be used on a modern 29er or gravel bike.
Any questions get in touch.
