Show us yer FSR's

Hi there,

My name is Mario and I come from Germany.
I would like to show you my Specialized FSR in the current stage of development.
I've been riding it since 2019. Before that, the frame was on the wall of a bike shop as decoration. So it was completly new as i bought ist.

Tried to keep it as contemporary as possible.

98 FSR Elite MAX backbone frame size S/M
Azonic Shorty Stem
Easton Monkey Bar
Currently restored 98 Marzocchi Bomber Z1 130mm or 5 inch Travel
BETD rear Tuning Linkage
DT Swiss damper
(Alternative SID XC damper)
Magura HS33
XTR 952 RD
XTR 950FD
XTR 952 shifters

Mavic Crossride wheels (unfortunately not quite up to date)

I'm currently working on a 1999 SID XL double crown fork, which should come next.
A double crown fork simply has to run on this frame

Sorry for the pictures from my wood workshop.

The other picture is from 2020 with a 2004 SID in the front and an Ario in the rear

I hope you enjoy it.

excuse my bad school english

Greetings from Germany
Mario

Thought I'd post an update on my bike since I originally posted it in this FSR thread way back in 2011 (back on page 5 for the original details!)

In 2015 I replaced the rear SID Dual Air shock for a DT Swiss SSD 190L as the SID had no lockout and used to pogo about like a pogo-y thing, sucking as much energy out of me as Colin Robinson (WWDITS) would.

Then in 2017 the front SID 100 fork went, replaced with a Fox Float 32 RL off of eBay (so no idea what year it is) as the SID wasn't terrifically stiff, and with no lock-out used to bounce about like a pogo-y thing too.
A black Chris King headset (again off eBay) replaced the silver WTB Momentum GreaseGuard the same time as the Fox forks were fitted - be rude not too really!

The short stubby rear mud guard's a Specialized item for a later model bike and needed a bit of chopping and taping to get it to fit, but works rather well.

I'm really happy with where it's at now, with the added bonus that the fork and shock are now red and black to match the frame, and can't see any major changes happening in future. I just need to get out and ride it more.

Love the DS. What fork would that have had originally?

I've just finished up a project, just need to route the rear brake line through the stops.
Thanks man, your DH is sick. I cant believe how infrequently they pop up for sale. The DH that year has the x-vert obviously but the Dual Slalom only came as simply the frame.

Actually that's interesting that DS came with a V brake rear end. Your's has the disc rear. In fact that DS rear end looks identical to my DH, though I bought the frame from a friend and he wasn't too sure how original the rear end was. Welded repair as below FSR DH Weld.jpg

Paint stripped for heat treatment
