Re:

Great wee story as usual Jamie

Today I went for as bit of xc on the Gleniffer Braes. The first time I've had the mountainbike out since my off at Gt this time last year. The ice and snow made it great fun but hard going. It was relatively warm , the sun was shining and there was no wind. A lovely day.
I made use of the official GoPro handlebar mount I got for christmas but I'm a bit disappointed about the vibration evident in the footage.
Here's a link to the edited video. I'm still a novice and experimenting with the camera and editing software .

Hopefully I can get back out on the trails more often and get my bottle back

Re:

Looks great to me! 8)

I have recently got a chest mount for my GoPro copy. Hope to try it out soon.

Then I 'll have to workout how to download the footage. A big challenge for me!

Hi Hawmaw :)
I think it's a great video and understand what you mean about the vibration. I had a homemade mount on mine and also used a helmet mount.
Here's a video from our macretro run at Aviemore a couple of years ago, the one where ZZ had his off near the end. The first half I have my handlebar mount view but it kept falling down so then for the second half, or last quarter put it on the helmet mount. Prefer the helmet mount but seriously don't like the look :) :)

Good work Hawmaw. Keep experimenting, I know I can get lost for hours editing and fiddling with different angles.
Vibration not too bad for a handlebar set up, what makes it look worse is there's nothing else in frame given any perspective. I found helmet mounts can do the same. With the bar mount, see if you can mount on the stem. Having the bars in shot can make it seem more stable. Alternatively, mount the camera under the bars so the camera weight is at the bottom, or the seatpost.

Like the shots looking back at you, one of my favourite uses for the bar mount.
Loads of different mounts available but cost can soon mount up. Here's a wee one from my first Whistler trip using just the bar mount.

Brilliant as usual Clubby :)
Good tip about keeping the bars in shot to show perspective, I will definitely try that next time I use it.
I must admit I have used mine once in 18 months and even then it was on the kayak. It is good but a bit of a pain editing as I am just not that into it to put the time in to do it properly.
I did dig my go pro out the other day as I set my vimeo account up on the TV, it was to watch a film I bought, Brevet, but realised it gave me all the films on my account. Nice to see them on the TV, especially the dogs and Caleb.

Great pics Jamie... snow, sledge and a big dummy - no wonder there are smiles all round, looks like a total hoot. Mind you, I'd be wanting a shot on the sledge too :)

Andy, I reckon chest mount is the best. As clubby says, you get the bars for perspective (and arms and knees), plus your body is acting as a shock absorber so it's not as shaky.

Was up a very clarty Benarty today with OCP and Keith - did a fair bit of trail maintenance - put in some rocks to make a boggy wee stream rideable (see pics of us testing our handy work below), and also built some double-black hand-cut enduro trail round a fallen tree. Alright, we might have just scraped a line out with our feet.

Great vid Aaron 8) very hypnotic .

Good vids all round 8) and Jamie, your's loked really proficient, have you done filming stuff before ?

Thanks Dyna, I haven't done any filming other than the few vids like that which are on my Vimeo page. I like that vid as it was such a nice day and everyone was having a blast up until just before the end when Aaron had his trail deviation :)
Haven't used it much at all the last year or two. Might try and film some stuff with the little man on the Dummy.
The ones on my page are really just done for myself, I might have posted some of them here I think. Just a cool way to show people where your riding.

The weather looks nice with you guys today ZZ, we have had rain this morning and all the snow and ice has gone :( After such a lovely day yesterday, today returned to pish.
I have learnt the Scottish way of making the most of it while it's here :)

That looks much better than the old two screw, split clamp version I have.
Need to use mine more, been ages since I did any filming.
