show me your air rifle

A silenced up air rifle (pre charge or co2) is deadly quite chap the noisest thing would be the pellets hitting the targets :D But you can make silent backstops for paper targets.

Saltyman, what is the wooden grip bit for on that massive hand gun?

yeah, its a gamo compact .177 they are a recoiless target pistol that are quite good, the hand moulds into the grip for a solid hold, feels like a part of your body then...

amazingly accurate in the garden, more so than a scoped rifle out to a certain distance of course.

I spent the last few days looking up the pros and cons of the various systems (spring, CO2, gas) and watching videos. I've come to the following conclusions.

- Styling-wise, I prefer the Colt 1911. (no surprise there, I always had a soft spot for the 1911)
- I'm not keen on the idea of gas, and neither do I plan to reload the gun and tension the spring before every single shot. That leaves me with CO2.
- By the looks of things, I think I prefer blowback guns, even if that means the CO2 cartridges won't last nearly as long as a non-blowback gun.

Based on this info and the availability in the stores nearby, I narrowed it down to these 2 :

- Cybergun-KWC Tanfoglio Witness 1911 ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikCiN4NFbGY )
- KJW KP-07 MEU 1911 ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtSkXK1YYrU )

Both are full metal, both can use CO2 (the KJW needs an optional magazine for that though), both are single action, both achieve similar fps when using CO2 and the same BBs.
The magazine sizes are different though. the Cybergun holds 18 bullets, the KJW can take 26.
The KJW has better sights and a mounting rail in case I ever want to attach a flashlight or a laser, but then again the bit sticking out below the magazine ruins it for me. Pretty sure I can get a mounting rail as an optional extra for the Cybergun too, and I've already found out that the Cybergun can be equipped with Millet target sights..

I'm really having a hard time choosing.

If I had no restrictions on power (not being in possession of an FAC), I would save for a Theoben..

Although for newcomers to air rifles, a springer is supposed to be the best point to work from.

If you can accurately shoot a springer, any other rifle would be a breeze.

:D :D :D I had a Saxby & Palmer, First a Saturn. Then a Galaxy. Then a Herald. F**king excellent guns. Then they F**KING banned them
If i'd know that i would have bought more and hid them away. Wish i had them now. But gave my Herald away to my boss back in 1990 don't know what he did with it. :(
The whole system was excellent. Just had to keep an eye out for were the cartridges went.
If i could have any rifle it would be these.

Yeah,
they were amazing bits of kit,
My dad & I had one each, both up to the 24ft/lbs pressure
The cartridge system was a laborious process to get ready for a night shooting rabbits on the estate, had a filling rig made out of his fire brigade breathing apperatus!!
my dad bought metal cases instead of the orange or grey ones
And the risk of losing them was high!!

Used to use Promethius (sp) pellets in mine, would knock an elehant down
