How about giving a bow a go

im pretty sure bow hunting is illegal in uk, same with x-bows, certainly the hunting bolts arent around anymore.
i dunno what makes a good rifle, but i can tell you a rifle that isnt good, and that is the crossman magnum 2200.
i had one a while ago cos it was the cheapest full pressure rifled barrel you could get at the time. that should have been a clue really.
it used a pump mechanism to load the chamber which took like 10 pumps to get up for 1 shot. the thing was accurate enough without a silencer, but you had no follow up shot. i killed a bunch of rabbits for the pot when i was living on a farm, yum yum. wished i had a shotgun tho thats for sure.
i've been wondering if there was a legal unlicensed rifle that could take down one of those little roe dear, there are tons of them running around feral round where i live, escaped from farms. like you can get really close cos they dont have a clue. well not my style really, i prefer the bunnies to jump infront of the pellet :) they know they are going to a better place (rabbit madras)

any one got any experiance of the ratstopper rifle in the above pic?
trying to work out what its worth to sell it as i only want the smk rifle

There's a new Crossman Ratcatcher on Guntrader for £95. That should give you some idea of value but I'd guess around 50%-75% of that maybe, depending on condition?

"law" requires that the gun should be capable of killing the prey in one shot , as in head/chest . so for rabbits it would need to be a .22

I had one of these, but not exactly a killing machine.
It was very good for what it was designed for though (10m Target) and bit like a well made frame in that it was superbly engineered and a pleasure to use

Bad back forced the end of my shooting days, shame it was good fun trying to get perfect 10's, harder than you think to be that consistent (which I wasn't :D )
