I have been asking this to myself now for a few wks , have been watching a few bikes on the bay, an been some what lost for words to find that they have been listed here in the ebay watch section, I thought ebay was fun finding things, turning up the bikes of our youth that perhaps we couldnt afford then, only to now find that some of the bikes on ebay are moving for a lot of money to. Take konas, 5 or 6 yrs ago they were 2a penny you couldnt give them away, noboby wanted an old steel bike, but now, wooh the last lava dome i saw sell made 400 an something pounds, good for the seller, not so good if you wanted to by it an have a good deal.
Sounds like i am having a rant, but i am not, iam just asking if we really need to post ebay finds up here, it kinda takes away the fun of turning up a bike for yourself, an perhaps getting a reasonable buy, instead of us all bidding against each other. What do you guys think? Have you turned up a nice bike on the bay, only to come on here to find it advertised on the bay watch, an know the feeling of your heart sinking cause you hoped no one else has seen it!! Over to you guys, Whats your thoughts..............

Don't know about anyone else but I have bought stuff directly as a result of seeing it in Ebay Watch, simply because I might not have searched for that item ordinarily. I have also ended up buying stuff that has been 'outed' as well as having my fair share of non-outed bargains. I welcome it! 8)

Oh, I love it. I've found bizarre things that I would never have searched for, 1000 pairs of eyes looking of for kit is better than 1 any day!! This site is the Yang to MTBRs 'no outing' Ying and that's why it works so well.

In the grand scheme of things I really doubt outing has any effect. If say you are after a Kona as many people are you will search on a daily basis for that Kona. To think that you are the only person who has found it is daft when there are millions of ebayers and 10s of thousands of them are seaching vintage MTBs.

The only possible case against outings is when things are really badly listed and you've stumbled on them by accident or by fluke. What I tend to do then is to offer a lump to the seller to BIN. That said if it gets listed on here then you know that you weren't the only person who saw it and you can safely assume that more people than you know, and you only need 2 keen buyers to drive a sale sky high.

Oh and remember that ebay ads pay for this site, so out away and keep this site free!

Yup that it does and might be mistaken but you unhappy that a few members might have outbid you or pushed your purchase price up more than you would like.

But i like the ebay section, having been out of cycling for 10 years and moving on with my life i found it again last year, then i found this site and that cemented me right in a place i like and the ebay section allows me to see and rememmber things i might have forgoten about from BITD.

Also until joining this great place i would never had dreamed of looking at ebay internationals other than the US so for me its good fun

I didnt realise that, well in that case i guess its cool having a site paid for by some one else, an also get to use it an search round all for free..
I was using kona as an example, because i still have my bike from 91 that i brought its still putting in the miles each wk, i guess i have cycled thousands of miles, with on;y replacing things that wear out, break pads, cables, never had to replace the bottom bracket, just re grease it an tighted every few yrs, fantastic.. Thanks guys
