Shimano Lower Knuckle Pivot Spring

Pace overhaul going swimmingly, until now. Decided to rebuild 952 xtr rear mech. And completely beggared up lower knuckle pivot spring (or p-spring as Mr Zinn describes it in Zinn & Art of MTB Maintenance).

Apart from now not working, mech isn't in too bad a condition. I know there is a NOS 952 for sale in classifieds, but budget has pretty much been blown on a complete reduild of my forks. (Cracking job btw from Mr Justbackdated).

Quick trawl of fleabay shows lots of rough looking 952s for stupid money. So a quick question would a p-spring from an stx, lx or xtr same vintage rear mech fit? They are after all pretty much the same mech with build quality and materials being the difference.

What exactly have you managed to do to the spring, they're quite err hard to break.

Ishaw thanks for the offer. Found a cream crackered lx mech in the 'box with the big spiders in it' in the coal shed. Did the job. This time I read the Park derailleur how to page before reassembling. So the answer to my own question is "yes"
