Shimano lever & caliper compatabilty

Does anyone know if new Shimano calipers (XT, Saint M810 etc) are compatible with old, non servo wave levers?

Thinking of upgrading calipers from LX to something newer but not sure about issues with pad travel etc.

well v specific levers dont work too well with cantis but all v specific levers work with all v brakes new or old.

think he means hyro brakes

just try it and see i say
i imagine the would be okay

it's not as if shimano make ranges incompatible

I couldnt make a Magura road lever work with a Hope caliper but thats about the only thing I've found not to

Should work - the calipers are fundamentally the same design on current non-Servo Wave brakes.

Just brought a set of XTR hydros from mousemat...I'll give them a go

I know for sure that XT/SLX servo wave levers work with Saint 4pots so if they don't turn out to be strong enough I'll just upgrade the calipers :D

'servowave' to me is the little cylinder found on DX/XT levers from around 1990.

thats how up to date I am.

I think they refer to the new levers on SLX/XT/Saint & XTR as 'servowave'...you can see the little roller/cam on the underside of the lever in a a slot, I'm assuming this is the gizmo that changes the pad speed.
