Campagnolo 7-speed indexed systems used a uniform 5mm spacing between sprockets, the same as Shimano 7-speed and Campagnolo 8-speed. So Campag thumbies and rear mech (either 7 or 8 speed) will work fine with a Shimano 7-speed cassette.

Cyclocross dodge to use Campag Ergo (road) levers with Shimano mechs & cassettes.
Don't know how relevant this is here, but you can use Campag 10 speed Ergos with Shimano 8 speed rear end, or with Shimano 9 speed rear end if you re-route the cable attachment slightly.
So with a bit of experimentation, you might find a way to make things work.
