Shimano Acera brake fitting problem

Hi all,

Need a bit of advice about these canti's as I'm struggling to get the straddle wire lock nuts back into place and thread the straddle wire through the bolt.

So I can figure out how they go back together but the issue I seem to have is that when I fit the metal ring it is thicker than the recess is deep so there isn't any clearance to pass the cable through the arm.

Pics below.

Any ideas of how to get around this issue?

Cheers

Jules

Looks like you are trying to screw this into the wrong brake, that arm is for the straddle cable with the fixed end.

Re:

Thanks for the reply.

I took this set of brakes off another bike and not seen this type of fitting before, just seems overly complicated to lock off a brake wire!

Not trying to fit incorrectly, the square head bolt fits easily without the steel ring, which acts as a spacer. I have the issue with both front and rear brakes.

I think I have a fix, and that is to file down the spacer but I find it strange that I'm having issues as I'd not normally expect an issue like this with Shimano products.
