Shill Bidding on eBay

The only real answer is to bid what you think is a fair price. If the seller decides to mess about you are better off losing anyway.

Ebay used to be a lot more transparent. On the flip side, the buyer protection is pretty good now. I have had one or two initially bad experiences lately, but they actually resolved in my favour ultimately and I am chuffed.

I used to scatter gun bids on multiple similar items for import from the States, I never checked back on the auctions until near the end, and would generally retract my bid if I saw another bid made then removed in a suspicious way.

Recently I have missed a few items by a matter of pence and regretted not putting in that final bid, so it seems I have not yet learned my lesson.
