hmm . . . odd. if the back of the crank arm has a stud to combat chain drop, then the timing pin should be removed from the chianring and then fitted behind the crank arm, i understand the "she rode it like that" but that would have been a mechaincs choice, and arguably wrong choice!

sorry though, i couldn't help but notice it, saw this at the malverns on every other bike last year, i've innadvertantly started noticing it more!
Keeping it authentic means keeping it the way she rode it. She was the 1995 British Champion on this bike so, with respect, it made no difference to her performance ergo it is what it is. I’m pretty sure Reg (who is plying his trade in Les Gets right now) got it wrong.

So Caz’s bike. I’m stoked with it.
It came with some of her own parts (including her iconic bar ends) but I had to globally source the other parts at considerable expense on account of the high end sponsors - Grafton Performance and Ringlé in addition to Onza and Shimano.

This thread is long and the build was interesting and, I’d like to think, comprehensive. There has been a great deal of input from members and it has been really nice to see all of the engagement. It’s been a great nostalgia trip for many of us.

I’ve tried to keep the rejuvenation as close to original spec. as possible when the availability of parts allowed for that. I had the guiding hand of an international circuit mechanic at the time, Reg Brench, who worked on Caz’s bike. He is still flashing the spanners on the racing circuit and, as far as he was aware, is still a RB member - special thanks to him.

The build also got some recognition from John Grafton which was nice. If it’s good enough for him I should hope it is good enough.

I hope the thread is fun for all readers.
