Servicing an XTR M900 rear hub

Will upload the pics of the axle a bit later.

However, it is a fairly standard looking axle, really doesn't look any different from ones I've had on much lower end hubs.

It is approx. 145mm long and 10mm in dia, with threading approx. 52mm long at end end with an unthreaded section in the middle of approx 40mm. It is stamped "Cr-Mo" in the untreaded section and of course hollow for the Q/R.

Pics of the axle as requested.

Cone and lock ring are on the drive side end of the axle.

That cone looks like there is some pitting starting. If the race in the freehub is similar then no worries, if it in better condition then consider getting a new cone (you can still get them).
And off course some new Grade 25 ball baring, stainless steel if you want the same spec as what was in there, that is if they are looking bad.

Luckily all the bearing surfaces are fine, just a bad picture - struggled to get a decent one taken.

Will get the parts washer out and give both the hubs a real good clean and re-grease and they'll be fit to go!

Thanks for the pictures.

Could you give me the length, the length of the threaded parts and the diameter of the axle in the middle.

Cheers

Same as any other rear axle from this time (for 135 OLD)
Nothing special about it. What are you wanting to do ?

10mm OD, 5.3mm ID and 146mm length EDIT & 1mm threading
