Selle Italia Turbo matic 2 leather Seat REPAIR

Ive yesterday bought a Giant Escaper MTB and it is fitted with this leather seat, one or two very small scuffs on it but overall its in pretty good condition

HOWEVER, one of the rails is completely snapped as per the photo.

Any advice on being able to find/source a new seat rail to fit would be greatly appreciated.

Only 3 seats on the whole of ebay and they are mad money!!!

for the time being Ive fitted it to the seat post with the snap half way in the seatpost clamp, seems to of kept it solid and stable but would prefer it to be fixed obviously

I've seen that before, on another member's Flite Titanium IIRC.
A crack in those places is regular metal fatigue. Enough riding with the seat in one fixed position will do that eventually.
Unfortunately the other side usually isn't far behind.

Sorry man, but that seat is unsafe and really should be in the thrash by now. A seat breaking could potentially cause a huge (of not lethal) accident.
Better safe than stylish.

not sure how he did it to be honest, it came like this, there is no other damage on the bike at all, no dints,scrapes or anything to suggest a bad fall or accident.

I emailed Selle italia last night and they have said that I can't get a new rail to repair it as it was discontinued in 1997!!

Suppose I'll have to get a mate to fabricate it for me
