See you in Scotland

Repack Rider

Senior Retro Guru
Things happen pretty fast around here. Gary Fisher left me a message on my cellphone yesterday that he had enough Frequent Flier miles to pick up a ticket for me to England for the Fort William MTB festival, where they will be screening "Klunkers." Director Bill Savage will also be there.

Couldn't raise Gary to discuss it before he actually purchased said ticket, so it looks like I'll be seeing some of you. I'll be leaving SF on 18 February, arriving around noon on the 19th.

The ticket is for Heathrow, and Gary had some other business to attend to, so I would still have to get to Scotland. My options are to take another flight or perhaps a train, but I thought some of the retro-regulars might be headed that way, and might not mind hearing hours of lies about the history of mountain biking, delivered in a genuine California accent that you could then practice to impress girls.

Poss working up in scotland in feb not sure of dates yet but if they match up....! More than welcome to let you hitch a ride
You would have to sort out getting up into yorkshire but its free from then on!

Scotlandshire is quite wet at that time of year, remember to pack some stout galoshers, and perhaps extra underwear. A coat might also come in useful - do they sell coats in california?

loooooooooong way on the train, may be better flying mate. Sure there'll be plenty who would listen to you for the whole trip though :D

I'm wearing my long underwear and "wellies" at the moment. It's been raining here steadily for a week, and the snow level has dropped to as low as 1000 feet in the last few days, far below the top of 2600-foot Mount Tamalpais about ten miles away.

You would probably ride in this weather. Unlike English riders, we'll wait a few days and the sun will be out again.

erm, we ONLy ride in that weather

Cool californian accent sounds good though for the ladeez :D

Although its a long way from London to Scotland for us, compared to the size of the states its really not far at all

Ahhh, the film is showing on my birthday...! and I only live 20mins from Heathrow... but it's then a 520-mile drive to Fort William... :(

Human Cargo

Perhaps we could form some sort of automated human retrobiker chain to pass CK up the country...? I'm happy to ferry him from Manchester to say Glasgow...

Mr K

PS. FW in February...?? Who's idea was that??

How can you not help a god....

I am more than happy to help out from newcastle way to destination... give us a shout..
