Seatpost mounted bike racks - opinions please

edit: and there is the added bonus of attaching it to my full susser :)

Be careful when fitting a rack to a Full Susser!!! dont forget the movement between Rear Swing Arm and Seat Post varies making the distance between the two a variable. Clamping something onto rear stays and seatpost will effectively lock out or dampen the movement. Not to mention damage the rack mounts. (Unless you can fully lock-out the rear suspension?)

Good effort on not reading the thread, as a catch up this is about SEATPOST mounted racks which only attach to the seatpost hence making them ideal for full bouncers.

My apologies 'For not reading thread', some seatpost mounted ones are connected to rear stays eg the one my mate used on C2C, that said even a 'seatpost mounted only' rack may come close to contact with rear wheel on a full susser dependant on the bounce.

Cycling pal of mine swears by them, he does hundreds of miles cycling across France regularly & bungees his rucksack to one, which I am sure must be well over the max weight. I borrowed one on a supported tour round Corsica, carrying just tools & first aid kit etc in a rack bag, worked really well but was glad to ditch the weight for the final col

As mentioned above works well as a mudguard too :)

 to my eyes that looks so wrong - putting strain onto a seat post like that ..... but that is probably a lot less than the stress put on it by the rider's body.

they seem ok

My mate also used a topeak rack for the coast to coast and it never moved.

Id say they are a very decent compromise to using a full blown rack
