i need some help with my Kona as i want to get a longer seat post for it as i try and get back on the road but cant work out what the diameter it is. im fairly sure its either 27.0 or 27.2 but i cant figure it out. any help would be great. thanks.

I think they vary between 27.0 and 27.2, depending on what the man with the reaming machine had for lunch. You might be able to get a 27.2 in there, but then again, you might not be able to get it out again.

Like Kirby though, my 97 Kilauea takes a 27.2 very happily. I haven't owned a 96 Kilauea, but my 96 Explosif with the same seat tube likes a 27.0.

My 97 Kilauea, takes a 27.0 very nicely indeed, although i havent tried to fit a 27.2 so this might not be too helpful after all actually

27.2 are easy to come by, your LBS or someone near you might have a tatty one to try.
It should slide in easily.
If it doesn't and takes force then you need 27.0

I think officially it's 27.0 as it was in the following year 1997

(Cannot remember but I think I was sent this as a dealers info list)

Your wear and tear/tolerances on the frame and seatpost may vary ;)
But don't try ramming it in.

But what size is your current shorter seatpost ?

mine is 27.0. i've had syncros, titec and a non-name titanium post in there, all 27.0

i once tried to fit what i thought was a 27.0 but was actually 27.2.... it wouldnt go anywhere near
