Seat Clamps - how tight is too tight?

That style of clamp, not all that tight - after a certain point you're just bending the top bit. If you can't move the saddle, that's tight enough.

I was also going to say that you might well be able to use the top bit out of some current generic two-bolt post, they don't vary all that much. Saddle rails are mostly the same, after all

I've got a Syncros clamp you can have for free (top half, lower half, bolts). Looks about the same size as the Kona one. PM me if interested.

Don't think the Syncros will fit, at least it didn't work the other way around.

Look for Kalloy posts, these are the same thing (probably made by Kalloy as it looks jus tliek my Uno as do some other Kona posts I have) and snapping that must have been quite a force.
You just nip them up a bit really.

It could already have been cracked but I just didn't notice until it was too late

I'll give the Syncros clamp a try. If it doesn't fit then I'll karma it again

I certainly tighten it more than I did on a ride a couple of weeks ago, where I gradually noticed in the ride that the saddle was starting to put a bit more pressure than usual on my family jewels
I nearly fell off the back
