Screw on Free Wheel Question

Just got a bike where someone has changed the original 8 speed wheelset for a decent enough pair of 7 speed with a screw on block, shifters are 8 speed and would prefer for the bike to remain an 8 speed, so the question is can i just screw on a new 8 speed block , or do i have to worry about spacing and all the rest of it,

i know the shortcomings of 8 speed blocks bendy axles etc, but can it be done?

i would say yes just screw on a 8 speed. You may have to dish the wheel again?

You will probably have to re space the axle and re dish the wheel.. Unless you are a tiny person that doesn't do much hard riding, I wouldn't advise it though...

The 8 speed block is longer so the outer sprocket will be closer to the frame, so just check for clearance.
