I was just wondering how those elastomers worked out for ya?

I have an 86 Specialized StumpJumper with the VR fork on it. I tore the fork apart today in hopes of un-siezing it. Once I got it apart, 4 of the 6 elastomers have melted into this super sticky tar like substance.

I would like to rebuild this fork and need elastomers, I was inquiring about how yours turned out, and perhaps where you ordered them from.

ahh.... the bushings.... well they arrived ok, appear to be the correct diameter etc etc, bowever as they are automotive bushings they have the metal sleeve in them which I need to remove. Currently my garage is not properly set up after I moved house last year, so I've not had a chance to utilise a vice and a big hammer and drift yet  so at the moment things are on hold, I have however contacted suspensionforkparts.net with a view to getting some elastomers made for the forks, so I'll update this thread as/when things happen.
Incidentally, I was thinking of fitting these forks to an 88' Stumpjumper frame :D

You could try pace grease instead of judy butter, still available for about £9 a tub I think. You can still get judy butter I think, try the tf tuned website. Manitou also do some form of grease I believe?
