Just got a black scott endorphine frame now i want to take all stickers off i assume its clear coat all over is the only option to sand it all off then peel stickers obviously then i have to repaint any ideas cheers

So, if you are going to repaint the frame anyway, then just sand/strip the lot. If you want to preserve the paintwork but replace the stickers, then one option is to just sand off the clear coat, carefully remove the stickers, replace and the re-clear coat..

I've done it a few times, including on this old GT. I describe the process in a bit of detail on page 5 of this thread.

Cheers mate i take a look cant be easy just to take clear coat off thought is it ye i repainting it this new black paint thats just came out it it blackest black invented theres a pic of a bmw done in it on you tube looks mental

Cheers mate just read thread good info did you do anything to the paint once you took clearcoat off light sand t cut it or some kind of polish to rejuvenate paint or just straight clear coat also can you do anything to rejuvinate paint without taking clear coat off like they do on cars just straight polish and buff cheers

I've seen something similar - Vanta Black it was called. it is madly expensive though!!

No, apart from de rusting and touching up in places. It wasn't to difficult with this one as the base paint is black. Removing the clear coat with really wet, wet and dry paper it comes off cloudy. As soon as there is a hint of colour you stop!! Ultimately I'm using really fine paper like 1200 grit and finer. It's a little easier to get the decals off too. Then I replace the decals - thoroughly degrease the frame and about 5 coats of clear coat. Then you take this back a bit (with more wet'n' dry) and polish.

I'm gonna say the whole thing is a massive ball-ache - it takes ages, but the results are good. Plus I am a weirdo who enjoys it

If the clear coat is not too bad you can also use T-Cut or similar - This you just rub on an polish off - it can work well if there is enough clearcoat left to clean up. I tend to use Meguiar's Link

I find it works well, used it on my Ritchey to bring the paint back up.

You can see before and after here

Still, those Ritcheys used Imron paints which last really well.

Yeah, sure, happy to let you know what I know if it is of any use! I've not used body filler on a bike, but can't see why it wouldn't work. For more minor imperfections, you can use spray putty. Spray.bike do one. I've not used it.

Just looked at the ritchey very nice the colors seem to work you wouldnt think they would certainly tell the diffrence the color looks deeper and thicker if that makes sense how do you know what paints on what back every time i try and look for info its a nightmare i probably doing something wrong (hate phones computers) comes up retro bike ebay pinwheel haha

Yes, quite often bikes look dull because the clear coat has clouded or has lots of really tiny scratches, gunk like Meguiar's removes these sratches and allows the colour below to shine through more... I only know what paint is on what through research... old catalogues, forums etc. Trying to match is a nightmare though - often if you can find a match the company that made it doesn't exist any more! (Like Imron)
