scorpion titanium what yould i expect to pay for one

I'm 100% certain (which at my age means about 70% certain) that Scorpion was Paul Donohue's foray into custom ti MTB frames circa 1995.

The recessed seat pin bolt is typical of a custom frame builder. Paul also had a very skilled TIG welder working for him back then which would explain the neat welding on the frame.

I remember seeing a small press release in one of the MTB mags BITD about the launch of the Scorpion brand but I've never seen one on the trails.

If this frame is from the Donohue workshop (and I think it is) then it's a rare, well made, British retrobike (don't tell the vendor that though 8) ).

Give this man a bun!!!!

Random posting on www.road.cc would tend to support.........

"I ride a Paul Donohue "Scorpion" MTB frameset with 26" slicks, my do it all bike I wouldn't be without"

Would love too know more............ :?

I think it was actually made by Kevin Winter, who has worked for Paul. He is a genius. He only stopped doing the hidden seat bolt because it was too time consuming. I remember seeing this in the flesh as a demo bitd. Nice 8)

I'll have a currant one, thanks :D

Tinker - glad you got this as it's a lovely frame and deserves a bit more than just being ridden to the supermarket! Enjoy 8) .

Ti

O I will do, it's going to be a verrrrry nice bike when I've finished, do you have any pics of yours as this is th only one I've seen

The above info is the extent of my knowledge, I'm afraid. I remember Paul Donohue's handiwork being held in high regard and it would appear that Kevin Winter is equally well thought of.

Kevin is still working and may be able to provide some background info on the frame.

Good luck with the restoration - it shouldn't take much to turn this into a really nice bike. I'd be erring towards Middleburn, Hope and USE myself 8) .

Holy thread resurrection... I think I might have just acquired one of these (although not in titanium) and I'm quite excited!
