With those numbers they could be brothers. What condition is the 89 in ?

That is a distinct possibility 8)

Just found it on the other page. Mines a bit " weathered " lol.

Let's have a look then..!

Mine is undergoing a full strip / clean / rebuild, but with no new parts [except consumables like cables, tubes etc.].. 89 XTII is a tough gruppo

Re:

My mate bought the bike new when we worked in Halfords. I think it was about '92 when I got it and it had already had parts swapped out. I built it up with some of my parts so it's always been a bit if a mongrel. Hope it rides as well as I remember.

Hello again guys. I've scored a set of forks I was after but they are a-head. What stem and headset should I be looking out for. The frame is obviously 89 but most of the components are going to be later. Never come across 1" a-head before.
Thanks Lee.

Thanks Lee.

Get the forks threaded, I'll send you a Saracen 1" quill stem..

Re:

That hadn't crossed my mind. I'll ask the local bike shops if they have a die. There does seem to be a shortage of 1" A-Head stems and headsets.
