Sacrilege? Trek v Colnago

Hi,

So I'm putting it to a vote. A good while ago, I picked up an almost brand new condition Trek USPS replica. It has a 105 groupset (minus the brakes that are tiagra) and certainly a good looking bike.

Recently, I have picked up Colnago frameset. Certainly not top of the range but nice enough. I was thinking of swapping over all the parts across, bit the issue is the blue rims.

Do you think the colour is close enough or do you think it looks bad? Certainly looks like it from afar, but when you go close up i'm not as certain. Votes? Keep as is or transfer the parts?

Re:

Based on the photos I can't tell what colour the wheels are so it doesn't look like a big deal to me. The wheels do look too big for the frame - did you not push them back into the dropouts for the photo? Makes me wonder if the frame was designed for 650 c wheels.

It's a long way forward in the dropouts, and the front is OK. I think looking at the big picture full size it's fine.

To me, it looks wrong. Those big logos on the wheels look silly.

If it were me, I would sell it and keep the Trek. it Looks much better thought out.

option of de anodising with oven pride ? if the shades of blue clash too much and if you really want those
wheels that is....

Re:

Thanks for the advice everyone.

The wheels aren't sat in the dropouts, as I wanted to get the rims as close to the frame to give a better reference for the colour.

If anything, I'd get rid of the trek I think ...........

yeah sure..as i say its difficult to get an accurate shade match sometimes with these images.
i also have a prob with fat writing on wheel rims so im de badging my khamsins...after all this is
classic retro.
de anodising would have been a last resort budget.
silver and metallic blue..cool paint mate..and guaranteed quality frame !
[ps shamals mavic cosmics etc exlcluded from my personnel taste :D ]

Re:

from a distance the bikes look vastly different sizes. Are you sure either will fit? Forget brands and colours, keep the one that is the right size for you.
