Sachs huret

Hi I have a Nigel Dean 'Edge' which was given to me about ten years ago I then gave it away…didn’t really like the geometry until recently when I enquired about its whereabouts and managed to get it back! How lucky was that….

The frame/forks are Reynolds 531. Which to be honest is in ok condition, no rust/corrosion issues. Components as expected have been changed since I had it last…So my aim then is to bring it back to its original state.

I plan to buy the correct length handlebar stem - current one isn’t original and is way too long, then locate the original seat post (which I may have just found) I have already added a replacement brown Weinmann hood cover - last one was split in two and tapped together!! Then need to search for an original rear wheel Sachs-Maillard, the only other change thereafter will be to convert back to Weinmann brakes 530 I think

I have recently purchased a polished classic Sachs Huret front and rear derailleur, plus braze on shifters. I put these on ok though here’s my issue the rear mech only has range for 5 speed……even if I alter the two ‘stop’ screws I can only get 5 gears out of the 6 sp cassette…there is no more range…the spring is in excellent condition and isn’t preventing range. Any ideas? Does the rear cassette have too larger ‘spacer’ between each cog maybe?

Re:

Any idea which model of rear mech it is (or if not a photo might help to ID it)? Presumably it's friction shifting not indexed? I've owned a fair bit of Sachs kit down the years so will do my best to help out if I can.
