Rusty cassette / mech - (OR ALTERNATIVE CASSETTE?)

What is the best way to remove rust from a cassette and mech ?

Soak it in something? It's quite bad!

Obviously I can replace them, but can rust be easily removed ?

OR

What options do I have for changing the cassette to something else, micro drive equivalent (I'm running full XC-comp Micro Drive)?

wire brush? but tbh its better to replace them youll never get it all off and it will wear a chain dead quick.

Yeah - got the wire brush ready to go, but wondered if there were any other tricks!

The front mech works perfectly, but tbh the cassette is a mess.

If I wire brush the mech, how best to stop the rust coming back?

And keep the chain well oiled! Especially after wet rides or washing.

heh heh do i oil the chain after using the chamois ?!!??

seriously tho, after several years in a shed, is it recoverable ???

use a dremal with a wire wheel atatchment,then oil and do it again
