This is typical in the business/trade world -
If you dont want the business....
... rather than say no, you simply raise the price so to that the buyer will be put off. If the buyer still wants to pay that then both parties benefit I guess.
Happens all the time - i had a plasterer quote that was mad...so I didnt do business with him. Im pretty sure he didnt want the business as he was busy elsewhere and the next nearest quote was a grand cheaper...
