Rule exceptions - bikes you like from brands you hate

I don’t like Litespeed bikes much as a rule (especially their attempts at full suspension). But I picked up an old frame cheap off eBay a few years back (the model is ‘Mountain Bike’). It is has the nice mirror finish and is surprisingly nimble, even with 75mm travel forks on it.

I never really liked Scott but when the Endorphin 1st came out i fell in love

I dont actually hate Marins but they generally make me yawn however mid to late nineties Eldrige Grades appeal, the reason I do not know other than once whilst in Edinburgh bike an example of said bike kept leaping out at me from the display :?

The higher-end Marins were good back then.

I have a '93 Pine Mountain frame kicking around that I keep thinking about using to building a single speed.

Still love my Rhygin Juke SS!

There are quite a few inexpensive frames from companies that I 'm not very fond of that would be neat...Looptail Aluminum Mongoose IBOC, Schwinn Homegrown (pre "Enlightened") etc...

But from companies I Hate?...

I would not own a Trek. Any Trek I'm 100% Trek Free. I'm still bitter about their predation of the bike industry in the 90's. Thankfully, they made nothing that I would want today!

Maybe a Mantis Pro-Floater? RC is such a tool, and the early Mantis bikes are truly goofy pieces of poo, but the Pro Floater just looks right. Granted it's a brittle POS, but its a nice looking brittle POS.

Watch it! Them's fightin' words!

IMO, the XCR-EC & the Valkyrie (EC) are some of the nicest frames ever produced... EVER!

Also, RC is a really nice Guy. I have periodic contact with him and he's always pleasant & accommodating. I hope you're not just 'parroting' someone else's opinion of him...

Back on track... I'd love an elevated Saracen but could leave the rest of the range.

Trimble. Wonderful but their is some thing about them that leaves a nasty taste. Go on mtbr and mention them and things get hot.

Nope, met him on three different occasions and he was a twit every time. Once to me personally, and twice to others in conversations I was present for.

Did you capitalize 'Guy' to stress to us that despite his behavior he is actually a man after all?
