Mantis Pro Floater 1992/1993 ??

Awesome bike. Crying out for XTR, but for me with SRAM Attack shifters and SS5 levers, but that's just me. Oh, and black Syncros seatpost / Flite Alpes...
Thanks! XTR M900 is definitely on my long-term radar, and that’s exactly when I’d bring in the SRAM Attack shifters—those pods feel made to sit next to M900 brake housings. For now I’m keeping the M735 thumbies until the full M900 kit materialises, but the “Attack + M900” combo is locked in the plan.

A black Syncros post and Flite Alpes would finish the stealth look nicely too—another future swap once the parts pile lines up. Appreciate the suggestions!

I’m going full stealth black Bullseye hubs with black spokes to black Araya RM-20 rims, all wrapped in matching black Smoke/Dart rubber. Can’t wait to see that murdered out wheelset set off against my forest green frame Mantis Pro Floater!

Sorry for the very late update, folks! Work went bananas for a few weeks and—because I apparently can’t say no to neon paint—I also stumbled on a ’93 Klein Attitude Gator project. Juggling two dream bikes and a day job slowed the Pro Floater posts, but the good news is the Mantis is officially finished.

What changed vs. the last plan

  • Swapped the cantis to Shimano XT (M732) black—they just tie in better with the all-black wheelset (Bullseye hubs / Araya RM20s / Smoke-Dart rubber).
  • Everything else stayed true to the original plan: polished-silver KOOKA levers, Grafton cranks with Girvin Rock Ring, ControlTech Stem, black Hub Freehub Bullseye + RM20 hoops.

The blend of silver touch-points with the stealth brakes and wheels ended up looking spot-on against the forest-green frame. I’ll shoot a proper photo set this weekend—glamour shots plus a weigh-in—and drop them here so you can see how it all came together.

Thanks for the patience, and stay tuned for pics (plus, inevitably, that Klein thread once the Pro Floater glow wears off). 🙌
