Rude lunchtime Rudy Project

Rebuild day. It’s been great for smashing over the trashed roads around here with the drop bars, but it is a bit of a handful like that with a Hamax and child on the back. Going back to risers and vee brakes. So, off with the 10-speed Shimano 105, drop bars and TRP Eurox; on with the 9-speed SRAM X0, risers and DX brakes.

Everything is also getting a damn good clean too, because I’ve done almost nothing to this bike except ride it and add oil. One really muddy ride a couple of weeks ago where I nearly slipped into the river sort of finished it off!

Would be interested to know the frame number of that Rudy Project if you're happy to share it. Thanks, Sam

Out in the wild. I did the shopping run for a test ride and apart from adjusting the gear cable it needed nothing done. Didn’t even notice how smashed up the roads were. Well happy.

@sam_white no numbers I’m afraid.

I’m down at my elderly mum’s near Hastings for a couple of days while she’s in hospital having a hip replacement. I brought a bike down to do my running around by bike because bugger doing it all by car, but by jaysus it’s hilly! Glad I brought this one and not my daily which is fixed gear. Burning through calories. I’ve just done 2 mains for 2 and an 8 pack of poppadoms!

Parked here earlier at the hospital because 69.

Decided this badboy needed some new tyres. Not been riding it much because most of my riding is commuting miles. I’m fixing that problem tomorrow. The Halo Twin Rails were looking decidedly crispy and well past their best.

I always forget how short the wheelbase is on this thing compared to modern rides.

A noise became apparent on the way to work. A not clearance noise:

Spent a couple of minutes with a half-round file and relieved a couple of mm above the tyre:

The Maxxis are the same size as the Halos that I took off but they're clearly a fair bit taller and I didn't notice. This should be fine on-road but if I go off-road with this bike I'll have to get some smaller tyres.
