RTS brake roller

Hi all,

Well... recently got me a nice RTS specimen from the bay, a 1993 model with the black CroMo rear (just how I like them) It's on it's way now, let's hope customs don't crew me over on this one :twisted:

Only thing is, I think it's lost that nylon cable roller you need to get the cantis working. Anyone have one lying around?? Or maybe this is something I can make from... I dunno, some piece aluminium tubing (and then grind those groves in it)? I mean, it's only a cable guide, right?

unless you want to buy my cromo rear end with it attached for £30 incl shipping - my front end has cracked.

Mine was a nylon disc with tw grooves cut into it to allow the cables to go to each canti, though you need to have the special cables, or at least some way of connecting one cable to the other vie grub screws, as one cable runs to one canti from the brake lever, the other runs from the other canti and needs to be connected to the other cable - make sense?

Your best bet would be to find a rocker device and mount this instead of the nylon washer as a) you'll set better braking and b) it is easier to set up/manage.

Hmmm, I still have a Suntour Power Hanger somewhere, would that fit? But somehow I'd like to keep it original (yeah... I'm weird like that, you know)

PM'd about the rear triangle, if my RTS shows up without a roller, spending 30 quid to get it complete isn't too bad I think.

Yeah, thought about that: My guess is that if I cut up one of these:

and use the inside (where you normally insert the wires you wanna connect). I can use that to connect the cables, from what I saw at pics around here it's just some but with a screw in it.

Right? Or not? ;-)

From memory, I reckon the wire block innards would work. Again, from memory, I remember that from new, my cables had two of them for a) strength and b) tidied up loose cable.

FYI. The square block rocker device will only work on frames with the specific attachments for one, the rocker device I was referring to is similar to those used on pace forks and would mount to where the roller was bolted.
