I can't seem to get my cassette onto a Royce freehub.
It's a Shimano style freehub and I've tried M737 and M950 cassette, neither fits, it's close to fitting but just seems too tight to go on, even with a hammer it's not really going on.
Any idea's?

I found a bigger hammer.
It's now on.
It's gouged some bits out of the alloy carrier of the cassette.

You risked damaging a Royce hub???

There must be a good reason why it doesn't fit properly, you shouldn't force it on.

It might be a Campag freehub....

Why not ask Royce themselves? http://www.royceuk.co.uk/Royce-Uk.html

I knew it was Shimano. With the freehub being titanium and the cassette being alloy i wasnt too worried about the freehub!
A cheap Shimano cassette fitted fine but was still tight. I think the higher end cassettes with the alloy freehub are very slightly different to the others.

Yes, the 8 speed compag has all the splines the same size though, this one didn't it had a smaller one like Shimano.
