Incidently, while i was musing, i think i could probably rig up some sort of dyno to charge an iPod while riding :wink:

lot of solar charger for sale for Ipod and mobile phone.... not much use in GB though :roll:
 
This was my set up for a 6week tour that took 18 months,

Blackburn Racks, & as many water bottles as you can carry.

Take at least a 2 man tent as it will be you home and you want space to move around cook etc

I can only add to the fact that a Steel frame is a must, and if you have the cash go to Chas Robberts in Croyden he builts a fantastic grand tour bike.

Don't bother with suspention forks, they are only going to go wrong, same with discs, and cantis were fine going down the Rockies !

Always have space to carry food you can never have enough !!
