If I fail to source a pin then I'll try it minus one link, but I feel that the bike was probably set up by someone who knew their business and it was probably bang on length wise.Is it too short to just leave one link out? Can´t help you with a spare pin as I´ve not taken my new one out of the box. It´s marked for a Campa build where these chains are indispensable IMHO. I can remember that I foolishly changed from a Rohloff to a SRAM chain in the end of the 90ies. The Centaur drivertain did not like that at all.
Yeah exactly. Someone must have some spare pins from shortening their new chains. Hopefully not binned! I´d give you mine, but I´ve not build the bike yet and I´m one of the guys who shortens his chains one link at a time on new builds. Maybe it´s worth making an ad in the search forum on here?If I fail to source a pin then I'll try it minus one link, but I feel that the bike was probably set up by someone who knew their business and it was probably bang on length wise.
I imagine there are plenty of pins out there, they always come with more links than anyone would need, it's just a case of hoping someone who sees this thread has one to hand
Been reading up on them this morning, I know about Rohloff hubs but not much about their chains, seems they are very well regarded, even revered and some describe them as the best chains ever made, so I'm really keen to refit it once the bike is ready.
Nice one Ferrus, no rush as the bike needs a lot of work before the rebuildI might have a spare pin and links, will have a rummage..
Used a few of these chains in the 90s. They’re very well made but to be honest I couldn’t see what all the fuss was about. They didn’t work any better than many other chains and didn’t really last much longer either, which was quite disappointing.
Nice but don’t expect anything special.
No, but now I want oneDo you have the important part, the sticker that came with them. I still have it on my bike![]()
