Rocky Mountain The Edge 1993

Chungu

Old School Hero
Months ago I started this project by chance. I had the frame but it had been gathering dust for a long time. I even got to advertise it for sale. But one afternoon, a friend sent me a photo, taken from a magazine. My friend did not know that I had that frame.
And I liked the idea. My head started working on that idea.

When I cleaned the Frame with the Kärcher, the stickers started to disappear.
I asked Gil, send him photos and he got to work on them. He did a great job.

I have been researching, but I did not find much on the web. I did not like the AMP fork aesthetically, but I had the solution in the garage. Meanwhile I kept making ideas in my head.

It was time to choose cranks. Race Face were suitable, but had a good collection of Syncros Revo and Syncros Aluminum. An almost new Sugino Tension also arrived.

With the brakes I chose an Onza HO. The combination of black Syncros stem, black Syncros seatpost, black Syncros cranks, called for black brakes urgently. But…. What the **** is this ??

All first generation Amp rear had a cable mount that did not remain center on the wheel. Aside from aesthetically ugly, its braking force was poor.

After this problem, let the project idle for a while. Thinking which brakes to use. Thinking of Magura or Avid Supreme, who also had some by the garage

Yesterday I had some time, I am also preparing a rocky Mountain Cirrus, and after a couple of months I returned to The Edge. Avid supreme and avid ultimate levers. Only cables and rings are missing.

The Rocky Mountain brand was once the first all Mountain, and the tube geometries are very similar to current bikes. I'm looking forward to finishing so I can ride it.
