Rocky Mountain Experience, 'The Canadian Moose' **FINISHED**

Glad it arrived OK.

Looking forward to seeing it built up , as i never got round to it.

In my opinion it would look great with syncros parts and Deore dx groupset. Items of which i may also have for sale

What year is this really from (92 ?), I didn't think they had them in 93 or 94 ?

I guess you could use the Cirrus as reference ('93)

wow, ur gonna polish it up more than it already is??? it already looks very shiny.

I agree with neilll, leave it raw they way it came. both my first "experience" and my current "cirrus" frame is a nice satin (oxidized???) raw aluminum. for myself, i can't see it any other way.

also agree with the period correct decals if possible. not digging the new style typeface RM has gone with.

whichever way you to go, look forward to seeing the progress on this. i've almost given up waiting on neilll to finish up his "cirrus"

We'll need a RM fan group like the kona one at this rate.

Raw Silver/Neon Red(forks) are the '91 colours (picture in catalogue)
Pewter/Magenta are the '92 colours (no picture)

Some great ideas and old school knowledge from you lot, thanks. For mine I going with my original idea, black forks and decals and Deore LX. I just feel it will look the part better than those i've seen in the RM catalogues (neither the 91 or 92 colour's float my boat, shiny alloy and gloss black does).

Anyway decals are removed and i've started rubbing the frame back with wet and dry to get rid of the blemishes. This could take a while, i'll then go over it with cutting compound and then with polish. Still waiting to hear from Gil reference decals (must be off riding). Forks are off for powder coat.

For a rough idea of the bikes stance I built it up with a set of alpinestars forks (what a pity they are 1.25") and the newly build wheels (built by merlin on NOS LX hubs, tyres are Ritchey ohm mega and alphabites). I'm liking this bike more and more as I go :D .

The big polish has began. Started off with some 400 grade wet and dry, no turning back now! Will go to 800 then 1200 grade before autosol.

800 grade now completed and managed to get some 2000 grade also. So 1200 grade next then 2000 followed by autosol. Really starting to come good.

Got the decals sorted too thanks to the outstanding gil_m. They will be with me next week.

Many changes to the original spec made as i've been spending. Changes include post, bar ends, BB and spds. Also managed to get some better examples of other parts.

Nice, you are doing it proud. It did need a bit of a brush down really.
Black forks are original too.

Here is one of its builds I did for a bit of fun..

Thanks Gump thats a really interesting picture. I fine it fascinating to see other people interpretations of bikes. I would never of thought of making it singlespeed but it looks like it worked. That stem is quite low and short, how did it handle?

I'm really excited by this build, got nearly everything together now (nice stuff too) and the frame is getting better and better by the grade of wet of dry I use.
