Rock Shox Mag 20/30 fork crowns recall; how to know?

Hi,

As many of you are probably aware of, Rock Shox recalled ~21,000 Mag 20/30 forks to check/replace potentially defective crowns [1].

Does anybody know how the "prone-to-crack" crown looks vs. the replacement one? Is the Mag 20 crown in these threads [2][3] the old one and the one depicted here [4] the new/replacement one? The finish is different (is it the "bright nickel" vs. "dull bronze" thing they're talking about in the recall issue?) and the ones in the aforementioned RB posts have a notch at the front, presumably to help remove the headset cup, whereas the one advertised at BikeRecyclery doesn't.

Thanks!

As far as I am aware, yes you are correct with your assumptions. I have a couple of Mags with the recalled crowns and also one without. I believe it's to do with the design in that the recalled ones have sharp edge/corners in it. I ride my recalled ones gentle and infrequently and keep a close eye on them for cracks.

Thanks for your inputs. Closely looking at the recalled crowns once again, it appears that there are notches to help remove the headset cup both on the front AND the back. I didn't noticed the latter previously.
