Glad your alright fella,

Never hit a car but had one pull out on me some frigging dumb blonde in her BMW, she seen me and thought she would pull out anyway i swerved missed the back of her car but unfortunately hit some little old women at the lights as i lost it and couldnt stop she was just stepping off the side wrote the wheel right off chipped my front teeth, blood spouting from my nose and everything.

Then the woman who pulled out and caused it all came back seeing what she had caused and tried to lay it all on my toes, long story short old girl said in ambulance (station was by where it happened) that it was the girls fault she seen it all and didnt blame me for anything.

6 months later tried to do me for injury claim was just before christmas like, she got nothing as ambulance driver put a statment in claiming she said when he was treating her that it was the car drivers fault and not mine.

i ride with the frame of mind that drivers/people dont care wont care wont see you dont want to see you and thus have learned to predict peoples reactions. ride with caution and care as i do, it might seem selfish but think of only yourself out riding. its the only way to survive!

gutted bud, glad your ok,like you said could have been worse.ive been hit a few times and some scarey near misses,i love cycling and driving so am aware of everyone around me,wish more drivers were like that.totally agree about the lights and helmets,i always wear mine ,feels to scary without!

This is what i do, i see everyone in cars as blind idiots, nothing personal, just survival, fortunately i only have a 2.5 mile commute to work, it has one tight downhill corner (with solid double lines on the middle of the road), almost guaranteed to have some idiot in a car or van try to get past going round the corner instead of waiting till it's safe to pass (despite me usually going round it at a fair lick) , so i sit out in the middle of the road going round and can feel them right behind me, then they scream past on the straight with tons of revs cause i've held them up for four seconds , then i catch them at the lights :), once had some wee plebs in a hatch shout abuse as they past, i caught them at the lights, sat behind him, lights changed and i left a nice big green gob on his back window

Checked out the bike, looks like new wheel, new suspension fork (cannot get the wheel out of the dropouts so must be bent) and new brake disc, thankfully the frame looks ok but I will get it checked out incase it has been knocked out of line. All in all probably about £480's worth of damage if those bits need replacing!
Still cant get over the surrealism of lying flat on my back looking up at the sky whilst on some guys car bonnet, so lucky the point of impact was where it was otherwise it would have been broken legs or dislocated shoulders etc!

Insurance company are paying up for the damage and I have settled for a reasonable amount of cash for the injury to my back.
