Road Riders

K, might be interested. Have permission for a two-dayer, which was meant to be torridon on mtb and bealach na ba (also cyclist mag inspired) on the skinny tyre. This has been stalling over dates and the logistics of 8 bikes. Would be interested in two rides, Skye & bealach na ba if that sounds of interest. Skye accom would be in the bag 8)

Re:

G, defo! Even if I don't get the pass then I can do the one day. Let me put some potential dates together see if they can tie in with yours.

Re:

This sounds good Kaiser but as usual I wouldn't get a weekend pass. Too much on , taking the kids here and there !
And more to the point , I couldn't go the distance anyway

Re:

What about a one dayer Andy? The route in question mentioned a couple of cafe stops too :)

sorry chaps, totally missed the email for these replies

end of july and august work for me, tbh if travelling all that way I'd rather do 2 rides if possible. you'll be ~11 hours driving never mind ride time to do it in a day, but could easily have my arm twisted for a visit to the misty isle

what is the cyclist mag route - (suspecting something like portree, staffin, uig, sligachan, bracadale)

Re:

End of July might work for me, were in the middle of trying to book a wee family break though. The cyclist route is

Sheil bridge>Kylerhea>Ardvasar>Ord>Achnacloich>Kilbeg>Skye bridge>Stromferry>Dornie>Sheil bridge

ok, the routes partially on the mainland and takes in the glen elg ferry....

the advasar to ord section has great views of the coolwans, it's a great vantage point and seldom seen in pictures due to it's location. think I've only ever round that road once myself, but then it is macdonald country.. the ride back along the mainland loch alsh coast line, past the castle Arghhh (Eilean Donan) will be nice.

the routes not what I was expecting, though it would follow the trotternish ridge and round to the coolwans

Re:

Would the last weekend in July be a reasonable date? 26/27th?

after a month of stagnation it looks like my original plan's back on  except now two road rides and no fat tyre day. the chat is now 1st and 2nd of Aug, one day for a Skye run and another in Applecross to take in the Bealach na Ba. would that work for you??
