Sean Yates always liked his brake hoods somewhere down near the front axle.

That's because Sean started life as a tester - and nothing wrong with that, that's how he got his TdF stage win. Even his cyclo-cross bike had horizontal brake hoods.

Weren’t those levers banned as they were not reachable from a normal riding position ?

I met Alf at the Shorter Rochford shop about 6 years ago. He and Alan were there chatting to customers. They very kindly sorted out my son’s cleat that had come loose on the ride out of London. After leaving the shop I told my son that the man in the shop was one of the greatest time trailers the Uk has ever known.
